About the Department
Department of Sanskrit was introduced simultaneously with the inception of the college in 1968. Dr Subrata Sen was the first teacher appointed in the department. Hence she left the college after two years and she is regarded one of the authorities of Ancient Law contained in legal texts.
Since its inception this department has been teaching only General course. Now the college authority is thinking to introduce Honours course.

Sanskrit day is observed on the Full Moon day of the month of Sravana.A seminar was conducted on “ Natural Language Processing in Indian Languages and The Role of Sanskrit” in collaboration with Department of Computer Science on 11th April. 2015.

- To set up seminar Library with useful text books and reference books.
